I know that people who visit the forum know my personal view on cat pics, and I'm not having a go at you, WandM, coz your "Painter" pic was great - nice angle, composition etc, but lets face it, a majority of cat pics aren't...... well, challenging in any way. If I was to critique this as a normal picture, ignoring the fact it was a cat, I'd suggest a less harsh light (I know you title it 'sunset' but it still seems too bright. A little later in the day may improve that), removal of those objects in the background - they take your attention away from the main subject, and maybe a different position for the subject as the pavement crack is also a diversion from the main subject and does nothing to compliment it. Unfortunately, due to the fact that it IS a cat pic, I reckon that if you try to make the changes he'd probably dislike the interruption and do a vanishing act, thus rendering the pic a non starter anyways....... Thanks. (btw, please don't take this as a personal affront - I recognise the gallery as being for all levels, and hope I can offer constructive critisism to any style of picture - if you want to take pics of cats, power to ya - but if I can offer help to improve your cat pictures, I'm happy to try.....)

I wish I could relax as much as this sometimes. Amazing how cats can find comfort even on the hardest of surfaces. I think this is a fun picture.

I have no cat (would like one with these great colors), but I watch the cats of my neighbors, when they are "sleeping" (hmm, they watch birds) in my garden or even coming up to lie in the sun on my balcony:-). Nice image

Jordy. Sigh. I read your critique - BUT I really wonder if you get the point of the picture at all! The point was that this cat setteled down and went to sleep on the side walk - cracked pavement ect. Maybe she could have touched out the sidewalk but what would be the point. I think you are trying too hard. Yes there is light but I hardely think it is too bright. Now for my two cents. I wish the picture was no so close. I think it would look better to see the entire cat. Otherwise it seems fine to me. Bsteph
