Description

Taken somewhere near D.C. Used a large format 4X5 Zone VI camera with kodak tri-x film. It was really tricky to get the focus just right because of the protruding and broken off limb at the bottom right. played around with the tilting and turning forever before I took the shot.

Love the lights and darks, shadows and highlights of this photo. And the textures are very interesting to view.

For some reason I think of the body of an elephant taken apart and put back together in interesting and seamless new ways. Trees will never fail to be an enigma and an infinite source of inspiration for an artist. Excellent shot :-)

very nice shot! the details, tones and textures are beautiful. at the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon, i'd just say that i think the photo would be better if the little bit of out-of-focus background seen through the tree opening were removed. the flow of the photo is mostly a lovely vertical one, suddenly interrupted by that out-of-focus hoizontal horizon line. PSing that little bit out would make this a more satisfying photo. just a thought. :)

Agree with funkandjazz on the horizontal line bit, but still, the shot is excellent. Love the light and shadow playing on that amazing texture.

Cool! Looks like muscle tissue - you can almost feel the strength!
