Getting some mileage out of this background ;)
Thanks Jade for the "tech" assistance! If you ever see a humpback in the wild it will hook you for life, they are absolutely beautiful creatures. Post work in PS, enjoy.

Gorgeous image, but what's with the frame? It takes away more than it adds. The whales are beaut though.

That may be your opinion VK, but I disagree. After seeing it in it's various forms, with frame, no frame, etc, It actually looked rather bleak without this frame.

WOW! Thats a beautiful render!! nice volumetric depth and lighting! - I agree with vk though, the frame does nothing for the image, too distracting and busy! - maybe one fillet would be ok in the darkest tone!? :)

Really superb work. Excellent technique, but I too agree about the frame. One frame would work well, but 3 seems to be a bit much.

frames, no frames...hmmm. The scary thing is if we dont watch the "hunters" of the whales and beat them back with a big ugly stick (or worse) the renders and photos will be all thats left. Scary thought huh? I love the render and lighting, good work :-)

I like it the way it is.

Magnificent lighting!

I'm ambivalent about the frame, but the image is awesome. The way the light rays are behind the whale makes him almost seem like he's coming out of the picture.

Beautiful pic. I hope once I play around with Bryce for a while (I've only had it for four days) I can pull off something like this -- awesome job. And you're right about seeing a humpback in the wild -- I was on a ferry from New Brunswick to PEI and we had a humpback calf swim along side us half the trip :)
