Description
This is a showcase of some of the Buddhist ritual objects (plus the room and vases) that I have modeled over the last few days. The composition isn't particularly sensical; the sword, knife and double-dorje for instance are simply floating in the air. The setting is pretty out there as well, Buddhist objects in a somewhat English looking room. Can you hear Mozart playing in the background?
The blades of the sword and knife were the most difficult objects to model. The shapes seem simple enough, but it took some time for me to wrap my mind around them. I had to use nurbs and surface modifieres for the knife blade which is a new technique for me. The bell represents wisdom in Tibetan Buddhism. The dorje, the object in front of the candle on the right, represents compassion and skilful means. It is the weapon of a Buddha, a stylized thunderbolt. It destroys the three poisons of passion, aggression and ignorance.

In the Late Victorian Age, there was a passion for all things Oriental, both in art and music (hence the Mikado, etc). Buddist propensities for floating in midair being well known, it's not all that surprising. Very realistic , excellent work. I could swear it was Chopin..;)

I would replace the textures of the blade with a chrome rather than any mirror kind of thing.
