Description
Another in my series of Rock Stars
of the 70's, 80's and 90's. I must
tell you that I have not been
real satisfied with my sketches of
late. That is why I have not posted
lately. As always, if you have some
constructive comments, they are very
welcome. I am certainly not above
asking for help...so be kind, but true
to your words.
The sketch was done with 5H pencil and
.3 H, .5 HB and .7 B Mechanical pencil.
The Gradient background, Frame and Rose were done in PSP7.
Thanks for taking the time to look
and to comment. It means allot to
me as an artist. Have a wonderful
day! We have so much to be thankful for...Cheryl

You've certainly captured the way he squared off with the mike to give back the night. Technically a man's hand is bigger than that but in your hand it can not feel any bigger than your own actually so you put the biggness square in his head. The camera and the microphone don't lie but they may file papers.

the face is so very his. Expressive and intense :) The only notes (but they are little things that don't affect at all the greatness of thsi portrait) are the dimension and perspective of the medal at the necklace -it lacks 3d dimension, it is a bit flat- and the hand that it looks a bit underdimensioned. But overhall, it is a gorgeous tribute indeed. And the face, the focus of it all.. SHINES :) So don't be too harsh with yourself dear :) many wish theyw ould draw like you do :) Kiss :)

I think this will likely sound either silly, or have the ring of being patronized - yet what I'm about to say has neither connotation on even a remotest of implementation. One of the greatest traits that I love about your work Cheryl are the small, often insignificant flaws that appear in your work. As silly or patronizing as that may sound, it's the simple truth - and here's why I say so: Although we as artists strive to always perfect our craft and improve from image to image, it is and always will be - the small flaws and imperfections that set our work into a class of its own. Firstly, it proves beyond a shadow of doubt that we are both original and human. No piece of art is flawless, never has been, never will be - certainly not in this small lifespan of an average 70 years. The small irregularities within your classy art Cheryl are what add a dimension of YOUR personality and the fact that everything you do - you do by heart and by hand - no store bought packaging, just raw essence of human art. Bravo my sweet friend - your art is real humanity.

Whoa, this one is very cool. I love how you always do the folds. I have a lot of trouble with that. Wonderful work indeed all around...

This is to a true friend and artist. I believe you beyond so many artists, are a true artist. It is in your heart, soul and mind. You create because it strives you to. And you can tell in the improvement and dedication that you have. You above all are an inspiration, never condone anyone telling you different. I am very fortunate to have communicated with you and have seen your wonderful work. To let everyone know, if it was not for this person, I would not be creating again. You are my mentor. Thank you for that.
