BIO Hi, I am Gun Legler from Sweden. I live together with my cat Simon in a little village near Gothenburg On the outside I am old, but young inside :-) For so long I can remember, I have enjoyed expressing myself through any kind of art or craft. Until I was 40 I worked as a child psychologist and pre-school teacher, but after that I said goodbye to my profession and began studying at an art school. There I stayed for four years, mainly learning Graphic art (etching, dry needle and linoleum cut). I was a lousy oil painter, that medium did not fit me at all, watercolor I liked better. For many years I made collages of different kind, watercolor and textile. I grew up with a mother that sewed and a father that built violins, so I early fell in love with textures of many kinds. I have now abandoned making textile collages, but I realize that I work much in the same way with my computer art. I take a piece here and a piece there and try to make a whole of it. And I am madly in love with textures of all kinds, I can sit for hours just playing with different colors, textures and filters, making backgrounds just for fun (and for upcoming images). I work very much by intuition when I make an image, experimenting wildly with layers, textures, color and light. But the form is equally important, thats what Graphic school taught me. I have seldom a clear inner image when I start creating, it is more a feeling I want to express. The process can be quite unconscious to me for a long time. The image gradually takes form, and become clearer to me. What I want with my images is to reach the feelings of the viewers, to make them look into their own inner being and respond in any way, regardless of which feeling is evoked.

I am Gun's daughter Lena (zitalena@gmail.com). I am so, so sorry to tell you all that mom passed Tuesday morning, Feb 8 2022, Swedish time. No panic, no pain, no regrets. So peaceful. I tried to get a message about this on my moms latest picture, but now I can't find it. But now I have her computer and can log in. Please email me if you want. Thanks to all. Mom really loved the community!! Her gallery will live on. I have changed the address to mine, because me and my brother really would LOVE to keep her gallery open. Love to all.

Beautiful image! You can't hide amongst the withered leaves of last year, when your artwork is like blossoming leaves of joy to all who view it. Early Happy Birthday wishes to you with many more to come. :)

Oh, I am SO glad you do not give in to the urge to hide - but rather celebrate life through your art, and let us celebrate with you. Happy, Happy Birthday - and thank you for your gifts!

Raindrops have to follow a long path through many layers of the earth before they are pure enough to surrender to the water of the source.===Happy birthday, dear friend, and may you know many happy and fascinating days.

I often picture myself at all the different stages of life, and contemplate Life, the ultimate trip of all time... "what must it be like to be X years old?"... well, as a kid I used to wonder what being an adult was like and now I am one I'm aware of the seamlessness of life, everything merging into everything else. I don't think it's something a child can truly comprehend... it's like you imagine these stages of life happen overnight, when in fact the metamorphosis is so gradual you barely even notice, if at all. I'm 28 but feel like I've been alive for so long... I guess it's all relative.
Such pathos is evident here, yet your expression seems to betray a calm acceptance. Those leaves may be wilting Gun but they are by no means dead yet, I hope for many more years in you! It's nice to fully see the gentleness in your eyes. I love this image, and thanks for showing yourself :-)

Absolutely beautiful!!! Excellent composition and color!! Don't try to hide your beauty. Age is a meaningless number.

I always said I'd either die young or get very old. Of course both terms are to be interpreted freely :) Borsy is right by the way, age is only a statistical thing, based on a fabricated concept of time.

a lovely image, for a lovely soul. You have the wisdom of your age, but the questioning and ready at marveling spirit of a child. And in this perefct combination, stays the secret of your art that blossoms from a fertile heart. Happy birthday, my dear :). We are born near in days :)

Thanks for your words, all of you. Sometimes I forget the richness it is to be old. Because I am not only 64, I am all the ages of my life that I have gone through. Not as memories, memories have a tendency to fade so fast, but as living parts of me. I am the little girl, the teenager, the young woman, the mature woman, all in one person. Therefor my images are like mirrors of all those parts living in me. And I thank you for accepting and encouraging me in revealing myself to me.

I like the way you revealed a part of your soul. And all the best for your happy day. I think, the best way to get old and stay young is never to forget the different stages of personal development. When my first child was born I realised how easy it is to forget my own development stages. Now my children remind me of me being a child...

I have often told my husband that I wish I could be laid to rest in a forest, cannot of course. But I deeply feel when I am wondering under the forest canopy, and see the life cycle evident on the forest floor.Autumn is my birth season,so I am partial and sensitive to the symbolism of that cycle.I do love this image....
