Description

Iggman... AKA Iggmeister The coolest Columbian Green Iguana you would ever meet! I rescued him back in '97 from an owner that was too busy to care for him. I nursed him back to health from metabolic bone disease which took nearly a year. At the time he was about 2 foot long and so scrawny and week he would drag himself across the floor on his belly. When he grew strong enough to hold himself up when he walked I would let him out to sun himself on the sidewalk. Strangly enough he soon started scratching on the door when he wanted to go out (He was NEVER caged) he had the run of the house and would do his buisness on newspaper when I was not at home. I lived in a little town in upstate NY called Kingston and I would walk with him on my shoulder down the main drag... everyone got to know him, so much in fact that the shop owners would come out to say hello and feed him bits of veggies! He loved Bananas but I didn't like the fact that they gave him gas! The women loved him and I often asked Iggman to get ME some digits because the ladies would come and oooh and aaah, ask me a hundred questions.... how old, how long, where did you get him, what does he eat bla bla bla... then they would say "well, see ya... bye Iggman" and not even ask me MY name! I came Manhattan to attend NYU. My first year in the "Big Apple" I lived in a dorm, but reluctant to give up the Iggmeister, I had to do a sneak and fade to get him in... I got caught by an RA (Residential Assistant)but she was cool, one look at Iggman and she fell in love, she actually helped me sneak him in. I was happy she helped but a little upset that the Iggmeister got to corrupt a coed before me!! Anyway this longwinded speech and these photos are my tribute to the Iggmeister... One year after moving to Manhattan and at the golden age of 8 (ish) the Iggman died, but not before he had grown to 7 foot 8 inches long and hopefully had 4 happy years more than he would have had. I know MY life was enhanced for those 4 years and he is sorely missed! Iggman- RIP Bro September, 1993 (ish) - April 15, 2001

Excellent photos, and remarkable tribute. I feel saddened I never got to know the Iggman, he's a cutie.

Awww, what a sweetie! I had an Iguana too, but it died after 2 years, was a cool pet. He would whip me with is tail sometimes though and boy, did that sting. I think I've had about every pet imaginable from birds, horses, snakes, hampsters, geckos, etc. lol Right now I just have my ball python and boxer left. Vega, my ball python is one of the most docile animals I've had. I'm sorry about Iggman, I know how the loss of a great pet can be. Great pics btw, nice B&W photos!

I miss him too he was cool. Nice tribute to the Iggman. As far as the photos go I am drawn to the center one the most. It is a good profile-nice and clear. That was shot with the large format camera right?
