New yen. That's about six cents, which explains how a tiny little fighter can cost 4 billion of them. The last number's an index tag, not a numeric value. There are [i]lots[/i] of new yens out there in a future where nobody is inventive enough to name their own money, so 0-6 at the end of your value could mean the difference between paying $43.03 and half the GNP of a planet. This reminds me of an ad campaign done by Bic pens in the late '70s or early '80s. The ad imagined three kinds of their ballpoint pens as orbital or suborbital bombers or missiles, complete with cockpits, rocket engines, landing gear, etc. I like the idea that you can take ordinary objects and transform them into extrodinary spacecraft.
