I think the separate elements of the bear should be, well, separate elements; i.e. arms and legs and head appear sewn together, rather than created from one "lump". Fur is tough to create, but because the bear seems to be formed from one blob, the texture comes off more like oatmeal than fur. What I find most interesting is the interplay between the various textures (hard/soft, smooth/rough, reflective/matte). A most intriguing pic!

I agree with Gray about the separate elements thing. But what a fantastic start. I really like the fur texture though.

What a cutie! Cool image. I think the comments about the different elements to form the bear are probably right. And maybe you could figure a way to model the seams along the sides of the arms and legs. I think you did a great job on the nappy fur texture, too. My only question is, is this supposed to be a tense scene? If so, the lighting is great. If not, the lighting is pretty extreme. Great work, though. Hope to see this as it progresses.
