Description

The Glenfinnan Monument was erected in 1815 to mark the location of the return of Bonnie Prince Charlie to Scotland in 1745, which began the Jacobite Rebellion against the English occupation of Scotland. Enjoying great success in many battles the 2,500 Jacobites forced the English to retreat from Scotland and they actually invaded England as far south as Manchester and Derby. Sadly the campaign ended less than a year later when the Jacobite forces which were overwhelmingly outnumbered, were heavily defeated at Culloden by an English army led by the Duke of Cumbernauld. This is my first attempt at reproducing an actual place. Everything was modelled in Bryce and Poser and no postwork apart from my signature. Trees are by Foleypro's Filler forest and Meski. The sky is Doug's (slightly tweaked) and grass is from 3dplants.com Thanks for looking and any comments....Brain

I've been to this lovely place in the middle of the Highlands many years ago. I saw the monument from my Hotel room window with a slight differnt angle - lovely. Have seen the thumbnail and recognized the place -> that's why to me it's an "Excellent" worth. A Swiss admirer of Schottland (not Great Britain)

I know this place well. You have done a good job of the mountain mist. But never seen quite so much purple (an increase in the copper colour and it would be traffic)
