Description
Hello again!
A follow-up from my Micrometer render. A much more complete scene.
I wanted this one to be 100% CG (no backgrounds), a collaboration of what I've learned so far about lighting, textures, DOF, displacement & modeling etc, and very accurate in scale. Everything in the scene is exact size to at least 0.01mm.
One comment from you guys that keeps cropping up in my work is that it's too clean. So here I've also tried to add wear and age to everything. I spent a lot of time putting in lots of little details to make it interesting for you - so go on, have a good look around. Also thanks to everyone for helping me to get this far with my work. :o)

Superb work! You didn't even leave room in this for nitpicking! Beautifully done, sir!

I agree with Moebius87 .. This is really superb work, and I really enjoy that you write a comment explaining as you do. Not only is this super realistic, beautiful textured, and a good idea .. it also has many small details that really makes it a masterpiece imo. Excellent! (btw. what renderer do you use for your work?)

is this a photo? The realism simply outstanding!!!

All these neat precision instruments... Whatcha makin? An engine? Pump? Hydraulic system? I'm curious...

It's really cool! Fantastic work!

I worked for Moore & Wright in Sheffield some years ago and this image actually brought back memories....very good work. The only thing I would say is that in my opinion the object shadows may need some attention; the pencil and dividers look as if they're floating slightly above the drawing.

Thanks for all your comments and help! Mobius: Why thank you sir! Xlars: The renderer I used for this one was Brazil. Kevin: Thank you! pauljs75: No not making an engine LOL. I used to be a Lift (elevator) Engineer. This was a collection of some of my old tools I came upon the other day and decided to model them. Kennyliu: Thanks Kenny, and great work on the weapons. MikeMartin: Thanks Mike. Good name that "MIKE". I still have a lot of Moore & Wright stuff. Quality tools those! Glad it brought back some memories for you. I know what you mean about the shadows. I was never happy with them. I used brazil shadows initialy but they were a bit sharp for the level of lighting I wanted to use. This was done with shadow map and is the best compromise I could get so far. Thanks again to you all for your help & comments. Keep on rendering. May the mouse be with you!
