Ominous and yet peacefully serene all at once....wonderful stuff F&J!

This almost looks like 2 images combined, but knowing your work, I know you don't have to do that. Interesting POV, and that tree growing on a slant throws me off just a bit. Lovely place. I'd like to see more of what you shot there. Would also like to see some of the beach with this hill.

thanks for your comments, marshall. there's no funny business here; just the usual adjustment of color and contrast after the scan. i'm not all that happy with the shot myself... the tree seems dark and there's not really a sense of "place" here. the main reason i posted this is that i was browsing on photosig and came across: http://www.photosig.com/go/photos/view?id=894074 i was amused that this person i've never met framed this same somewhat obscure scene in an almost identical way. my shot is from 5 or 6 years ago. his/hers is apparently very recent. just thought the comparison was interesting. by the way, since you said you'd like to see more from the same place, i shot this on the same day, roughly 20 feet away: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=356264&Start=55&Artist=funkandjazz&ByArtist=Yes

The title is perfect! I really like this photo, it envokes so many different feelings in me. It can be seen in so many different perspectives depending on ones mood. You have a terrific eye!

A very beautiful picture. Great use of the dodge and burn tool!!

i like how the blue is almost the flip-flop shape reverse of the green- & the tree gives it that added interest by breaking up the flow

Don't disagree about the tree, however this has all of the place I want - a beautiful and lonely shot. Very clean comp.
