Here is a pic i did for my course using Lightwave. I used HDRI and spinning lights. Enjoy

I used the spinning light to create softer shadows from the pieces as raytraced shadow maps have very defined edges, the spinning light soften them. I also used a couple of other lights to highlight certain pieces better and used the HDRI mainly for its nice reflections. Im still playing with the spinning lights to get it right as i have only been using lightwave for 3 weeks, i usually use 3dmax4.2. Thanks for the comment :). Also to note that area lights take a lot longer to render, the spinning light does a similar job and is a lot faster.

Well. a great image. And when i hear ure using lightwave for just 3 weeks im gettindamn jealous man! And what the hell are spinning lights??? Never heard of that. can you tell me what that is?

Thanks for the info xmamx. MatrixG, I've not played with spinning lights but the theory, very roughly, is that you animate the lights while you render a still image. This tricks Lightwave into effectively rendering the effect of many light (or a lightdome) without bogging down your processor by actually including loads of lights in your scene. You can create nice soft lighting relatively quickly.
