This is very nice work. A couple of suggestions. 1) Board edges. . .wood is never perfectly straight and hard edged. A displacement map for the wood will help a lot 2)Bevel the screw holes 3)the hinge-plate texture needs more weathering; the hinge bolt is very beautifully weathered, as are the screws. Rust, some scuff marks, and especially wear at the points wear friction would occur. very nice work-- these are thoughts for improvement, not criticisms. . .

I agree with Croc'. In Cinema, Fillet (or soften the sharpness) your edges a little. Even if an object looks to have 90 degree sharp edges, there are no 90 degree, or sharp edges anywhere on earth. Your rusted screw heads and hinge bolt look good. Give the hinge the same weathered treatment. And yes, the edges of the wood are too sharp, even newly cut wood does not have an edge like this. And also, remember, at this angle, some ambient light will be reflected down into the crack in the planks and will show some texture. This is a good start on showing age and weathering, just needs a little tweeking....

Hi Toolman5: The first thing I saw, besides all the other points the two persons above saw, was the mid section of the hinge itself. Notice that a good split between the left and right flanges is missing. I said "good split" because there is a sort of split but not a convincing one. How would the hinge bend if you don't have a divisional split. specially with an old hinge. Otherwise, I love everything else in your scene that is why I stopped by.
