Actually the model is from the De Espona collection. I modeled some things like bits of the interior, the seats, and the wheels, but that was about it.

Thanks jlgarcia :) By product shot I meant it was a rendering for a design firm that deals with cars. They wanted to add 3d to their list of services and the render was for them.

Did you use a special shader for the surface? Any sub surface scattering? And I really need to know how you modelled those tires.

I used gaffer for the specular paint. You can get similar results with gradients and the like though if you don't have gaffer. G2 I think has even more options. The tires are actually one of the things I did model on the car. But they are quite simple. Just a lathed profile for the tire and then bump maps and dirt maps for the rubber.
