Description
And there is is.... Just after the final bridge it stands. It is huge and very mysterious. It leavs no shadow, shows no reflections; it's just there. What could it be then? Some say it's alien, some say it's God... Every planet has one and we have just found the Monolith of Deadrock.
This little short story with the 5-picture journey on my planet Deadrock was based upon the books by Arthur C. Clarke (2001, 2010, 2031 and so on) and the films by Stanley Kubrick and Peter Hyams. I just couldn't resist doing a Monolith in MojoWorld. The actual Monolith was created in LightWave 7.5 in correct proportions.
The textures on this planet are very complex and this image took about 48 hours to render on my fastest workstations so rendering with shadows was out of the question, I'm afraid. Levels were fixed in post. You can read more about this planet in the other images in this gallery.
Thanks for viewing/commenting.

Brilliant work...The narative is well written too..I'm surprised you didn't use a Mojo primitive for the monolith..Then again, I don't have Lightwave to play with :-(

Thanks again, Bruce. :) I only used LightWave Modeler because I wanted the Monolith in the exact size and proportions as in the books/films.
