Description

I had a hard time knowing how to crop this one. It is too bad I didn't get the very bottom of the reflection of the trees. If anyone has suggestions let me know. :)

It's a gorgeous, captivating scene. I suggest cropping enough (about an inch) off the left to remove the trees and branches there. Then maybe clone out the two little tips of trees left near the bottom. Also, the cloud on the upper right seems a bit burnt out (could just be the monitor I'm using), so maybe use the dodge tool there, or just darken the whole photo a little, or crop some from the top of the photo. These are relatively minor adjustments. It's a beautiful shot in any case.

What a beautiful place! I agree with F&J about the cropping....this is one of those cases where a ND filter would have been perfect. The exposure of land and water look great, but the sky is a tad burnt out. A split neutral density filter would have cut down the brightness of the sky, giving you a perfectly exposed image all around. Great work in any case.

Beautiful shot. Excellent composition and feeling of space. I'd not do the reflections on the right any differently; to catch the reflected treetops you'd have to raise the horizon too much, and that would not look as nice. Mixed feelings about foreground trees on the left. If they were bigger they would help frame the shot, and also give another depth clue. Given the choices, I'd likely leave the two big, in focus, ones as they are, and photoshop out the little guys and the blurred one. [I know, it IS cheating...] One of these days I'm going to have to buy one of those split ND filters to see if they really do work. Here, I believe it would have. [Since I'm guessing you used a tropod for this.] I would have made several bracketed exposures, and combined the foreground from one with the background from another to give more definition to the clouds. [Again, cheating...] Good discussion for the Forum.

I wouldn't call that cheating, but "post production". Artists discretion. Beautiful place.
