Description
this thing was a MONSTER!!!!!!!
took over 24 straight of rendering and then......as if that wasnt long enough......the shadows underneath the green crystal did not come through for some reason. that was about another 2 hours doing it all seperatly.....inch by inch. anyhow, the result is this pic that i'm not even that happy with due to what looks like overexposure on the marble base. feedback as to how that could of been avoided will be greatly appreciated as will ALL feed back!
by the way.....100% bryce if ya didn't know.

Did you use a radial light semi-dome ? If so, maybe you should turn down the ambient and diffuse settings(ambient to zero and diffuse between 50 and 60%). If not,......still try turning down the ambient and diffuse settings,....also maybe try futzing around with the specularity settings and/or reflections. Also maybe the settings of the light source itself ? Try setting it to use a gradient instead of a solid color, or just darken the light source color or the light intensity . Keep working !

I more or less agree with sackrat. had the same problem when I tried to use a lightdome, solved by reducing hard the light intensity and changing the color to a middle-gray instead of white. Never tried the gradient sackrat's mentioning, I think that this could be another good solution.
