Description
This bizarre image was taken September of last year. This is the trail of a rocket launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California (the base is located near Solvang). This can be seen from all over Southern California, and is a NEAT sight to see. Most people unfortunatly only get to view the aftermath which looks like this, but I knew in advance of the rocket's launch and was out there to watch this take place. I cannot express how neat it is to watch this glowing light raise higher and higer until it hits a point where a bright light forms and changes colors very rapidly as the rocket exits our atmosphere. This shot was taken just after it had left earth, with my camera set to 'bulb' mode (digital camera).
