Description

I couldn't come up with a good title, sorry.. A new planet with some fun clouds and a terrain that looks like a home for some giant worms! (ick!). I'm not too happy with the strata in the distance, it's not distorted enough for viewing that far away (works close up), just appears straight... Still trying to get to grips with the mats though! Happy Mojo'ing!!

Lovely. don't see often renders with shadows. It works really well on this one.

Really cool sky work !! About the strata...Are you using domain distortion on the "strata" texture? Usually noise works fine for that.. Try lowering the LFS and raising the RS.. Sometimes, I've found that strata can look very natural up close, but in the distance it looks too straight.. Kinda tough to find the right compromise. BTW very cool terrain work.. Oh yeah..Perhaps by changing the strata colors to contrast each other more? Sometimes that helps to show the domain distortion better..I've banged my head against the keyboard over that quite a few times...

Cool tip, thanks! I guess I just need to spend more time messing around with it! I'm using domain distortion but not to much effect at the moment. I shall be looking into it in more detail. Of course I could always just use lots of fog to hide it!! hehe! Just kidding.. I like using shadows in my final renders but it can be expensive on render time as you know. I rendered a version of this with no shadows but it looked kinda flat, I guess it was because of the sun position. It's all great fun though!
