to answer your question, skittles can stay on a shelf for as long as the dust is old. the question now is whether or not you'd want to sink your teeth into them. but in anycase-skittles are a modern candy wth modern preservatives, eatin by modern people...and they wouldnt last 5 secomds on my shelf. i love skittles. oh, and i love this image too. great stuff. personally i would have used a green one(but maybe thats because im a bit fond of green)... wonderful.

Spiderwebb, It's me again. I love this one. I have a suggestion... when you are working with such shallow depth of field, and you can't get everything into focus, but on a shot like this you want most of the skittles to be in focus - use photoshop to copy the surface of one of the ones that is in sharp focus to one that isn't. That's one way to get them all in focus. I'm about to post a shot of a bracelet. I often will shoot two images of the same thing where foreground is in focus then background is in focus, then layer them together and where the one is in focus, erase the the blurry layer...then the whole thing is in focus. It's cheating a little bit, but if you are trying for an effect, I say it's not a bad thing to combine two of your own images. Your thoughts? Colleen
