Description
Inspired by the Matrix Reloaded. Tinkering some more with caustics and radiosity. About a an hour to model. Played with lighting for a while. 9 hours to render (1280x1024 pheww...) Should have paid a bit more attention during test renders. You'll notice that the doors on the left have the knobs on the wrong side. Too lazy to rotate 180 degrees. Thought mirroring would be easier. Several hours into rendering I noticed the problem. :|

9 hours for this pic ?!!! Wath kind of PC do you have ??

I know. It took a heck of a long time to render. Athlon 2100 XP. Only one light source. I'm not sure how long a scene like this should really take. If anyone can point me to a tutorial on radiosity and caustics, that would be swell. I'm in the very early stages of the learning phase.

Nice concept :). Instead of a light source, using illuminating materials saves rendertime (and gives a cooler effect imho). Toss out the caustics. I can't see how it would improve the image and it just costs a lot of rendertime. Doing this and improving radiosity settings should enable you to cut rendertime down to 10-30minutes.

Thanks for the tip Handige!

I think this is great! I don't even think you need radiosity for this image. Just a luminance material like handige said, would do fine. You'd need more light, but it would render in around 2 mins!

Like very much the idea!!

Ok don't panic is it just me? or is everything floating a few inches above the floor? Kewl render!
