Description
Poser 4, Cinema 4D R6
Only minor postwork in Photoshop for brightness and contrast adjustment.
This is "First one in II", an overworked version of "First one in". As obvious, it is heavily inspired by Camerons Aliens. I admire the set design and its dark and claustrophobic look. After watching the special edition DVD over and over again, I simply had to do this picture.
I hope you like it! :)
Edit: ARG! I wanted to edit this entry and somehow I instead deleted it. Now here

Really? I will think about it.

Even though this picture is a nice one, I'd prefer the first one. Why? I think it's the centristic composition that lacks the tense of the first one. Don't compose the motive too centristic. Try to keep the "golden cut", as to say the 5:3 or 8:5 composition tense. The "golden cut" says that the bigger part to the smaller one of the composition should be the same as the whole to the bigger part. As every rule in composition, you shurly may ignore or bend while composing, but never forget. The first one was better composed. Maybe it's the light that's decreasing the tense of the picture. Hard to say.

The smoke really makes the pic. Excellent feel about the pic. The wall chunnk on the floor looks a bit too thick for the wall I think, but over all a good pic.

Terrific work. Aside from all the other stuff complimenting your work, like the lighting and the atmosphere... I really like your atttention to detail with the chunk cut out of the wall still glowing hot. :o) Well done!

Thanks! Actually, the door piece on the floor is exactly the same piece thats missing from the door. Strange the door looks so thin. Ya know, I had this image in my mind of the cutting torch going through the steel and the still glowing piece smashing to the floor, the hole spitting out marines. That image just had to get out of my head.

Phleg: Its a cut-out of a walk-cycle. Practically, you are right. She is about to fall, but this forward falling motion is part of the natural cycle. The thing with motion cycle cut-outs is, they do always look kinda strange. I prefer this kind of natural look over too much set up scenes. I hope I could explain what I mean. You all know, my english is not that good.
