Well for a first, I think it is a damn good one, love the washed out sky and oil type feel to the textures, old painting style. Well done..

first?...you gotta be kidding..this is most excellent work ..i agree it does look like an oil painting..but it only adds to its beauty ..excellent stuff

hehe, well ok Mad, maybe not strictly my 'first' as I did a little 3D modelling work on 'Morning Watch' too. But this really is the first time ive actually created anything for specific use within Vue. This pic really started out as an island that I was playing with textures on. After hitting accidentally on the ground texture it has, which I really liked. I decided it needed something more, hence the progression to what you see now :) I'm usually pretty slow at producing my art, as I always seem to spend far too much time changing it drastically 'Just to see the effect' LOL. This one took about a week, with a lot of time going into figuring out how in the name of hell I would reproduce that lighthouse glass! In the end I went for a surface model, which caused nightmares of its own with gaps and holes... All in all tho, i guess im fairly happy with the result. I won't however be truely happy until I can bring everything together - texture, lighting, modelling, dof, composition, and of course talent :) There are many very taleted artists here at Renderosity, they are a constant inspiration to me one day I hope i'll get there...Kutter
