FOR INFORMATION: A month ago my old monitor was served out, so I had to break my savings and purchase new one. I elected "iiyama HM204DT" ( made in Japan ). After installation I found out the right half of the screen has got a little bit misty picture. iiyamas serviceman was not able to correct it, a reseller didnt want to take it back ( product is not out of order ) and iiyamas direction ( Germany ) answered: "Maybe you expect too much, a CRT is a CRT and will never create a perfect picture." ( ??? I used Sony with 22 flat screen in my previous job and it was O.K.! ) They ignored my explanations: I dont want "perfect picture", but only uniform sharpness over whole screens area. So Im sentenced to abuse my eyes for many years ( I havent got money to buy next one ). Ordinary man, as I am, has no chance against well-paid lawyers. SO AT LEAST: If you are decided to buy "iiyama" monitor ( I wont do that anymore ), check out it before you will pay, dont make the same mistake as Ive made! Regards.

Hey, I wanna know what she's whispering in her ear! I hope she's not abusing his singing, I'm pretty sure he's singing a Beatels song! :) And you can see he's putting all his heart and soul into it. Ah, this is such an excellent work, even with your screen problems, you have created such a dynamic, realistic scene. Marvelous work, this. Great job!!

Absolutely splendid! The expressions and sensitivity of the posing positively bring it to life! Its not often that we get the chance to see such an ordinary slice of life become something so captivating. Well done!

Wonderful Artwork again, Gaspo!! And for the monitor, well, i think you have at least 2 years warranty (here in germany you have) and in addition you can bring any technichal device back (within the first couple of days) to the store for a change with NO reason!! You can say "ah, well i dont like the color of the chassis" and the seller has to take it back and offer you another one (i know this, because i was a computer-seller)...try it again. They do have to change it! (but often try to avoid it because of the costs that THEY have to send it back to Ilyama)..hope that helps, if not, we should start a thread in the "Virtual Tavern Forum" about unserious firms like iiyama :o)

whats the illumination type?

Gaspo

7:14AM | Mon, 26 May 2003

Thank you for your comments very much! About the illumination. I use just standard Max light system. I know the result is not so realistic, but it enables me to work with images feeling much better. And it is much faster of course. For example this scene takes about 6 min to render, when Shag hair is off - about 1,5 min ( PIII750, 1024 MB RAM ). The background is only phototexture ( the house ). Ive used 6 omni lights with composite shadows ( shadow mapped + hair shadow ) in the scene. It is important to find good positions and adjust attenuations and shadows. I also use "Exclude, Include" possibility.

Something like that started happening with my (very) old Belinea monitor, but I think it fixed all by it self after some time(?) Nice image, as always..

How fast do you make a character? I have seen your work and always more than 3 characters. I do a week over a good character.

Thanks for next comments. My answer for "crzwtlf": Ive done base Male and Female models. To create concrete character from them takes me about week of work. When Ive done new one or two characters Ill make new scene ( to present them ). Scene takes me about 2-3 days of work ( it depends how many objects I have to build ). In scenes I use also older models. This scene is quite simple. Till this time Ive done 13 female models and 4 male models. My next scene will present my last male model, there will be 4 characters and it will be called "Rockers". I have to make some clothing yet and then Ill be able to build it. I suppose during 3 or 4 days you will see this one.
