This is your first??? Please tell me you have been messing around with other programs for some time, else I may just give up now =P. But seriously, this is a fine picture, the lighting is very good, those big fern type leaves look great (where did you get them :)) and the texturing on the ground is more than functional enough. The water texture is probably just wrong, try some of the other default waters, and mess with the bumpmap settings. This give you the ability to try literally hundreds of different effects to the water. Hope this helps, Kutter

Very well done, I like how you have framed the scene with the palms. One suggestion? Some fine grass at the waters edge would really make a more realistic blend of land and water. Just my 2 cents. Over all excellent work. :O)

my suggestion would be to lay a ground plane textured with gravel and bits of rock just below the water plane or texture the ground plane you already have and raise it slightly..you can use vues default red water its value settings are about right to create nice ripples and translucent enough to show the bed you've created underneath.hope this helps..after saying all that your image shows fantastic promise and its awsome for a first attempt...

Don't you just hate it when someon turns in something like this as their first Vue pic? :-) The suggestions already made are well worth implementing, but this is really very good, particularly for a first outing - the vegetation and atmosphere are excellent.
