slowly steping into the digital photography pool. any hints and tips from other photographers will be greatly appreciated, cheers!

Just keep stepping, you're doing fine. Is this a poinsettia? The black and white is a nice effect and the cropping looks good. It might could use a tiny bit more contrast but if I could see it in a larger format, I would probably change my mind on that too.

A larger image would be a good start. A lot easier to critique something when you can see it better. Hope to see more :)
