Description
In County Mayo, over Sligo and the sea, is Knocknarea, a green, gnarled mountain that is situated strangely. More of a large hill, it nevertheless lingers in the corner of the eye wherever you go there. From its summit juts a huge mound of gravel like a cold grey nipple on a witch's breast. According to Irish legend, in the center of the mound under tons of stone, ancient queen Maeve is buried standing upright, clutching her spear, facing her old enemies in the north, ready to serve the isle again. Atop the haunted mountain, Maeve waits....
