I like the color pattern and the textures: the contrast between red and black and the angle of shapes' position create an ominous expression, and the scene seems to be engulfed in flames... or is it blood? (or, maybe, pomegranate juice?)

I've been looking at it...I think maybe it's fish...but I like your interpretation.
