17 days old baby elephant named Trong Nhi. Shot in Blijdorp Zoo.

In 1988 a female elephant was confiscated at the Rotterdam Harbour. She had been captured in the wild in Vietnam and was on her way to the Czech Republic. She found a new home at Blijdorp, the Rotterdam Zoo. The Dutch word for Customs is Douane, so they named her Douanita. In 2000 she had a still-born baby. On May 13th she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. The zoo keepers named this baby Trong Nhi after a famous female Vietnamese leader.
