Description

Attempt to create a 50's Kitch looking compact. Still not happy with the wood texture. Enameled inlayed gold wire flower done using splines. Compact and clasp done using primitives. Comments and suggestions. 4 hours render time with full radiosity and caustics. Enjoy. ;)

I like what you are doing on the compact, combining the different textures for a more detailed look. 4 hours still seem like a huge amount of time though...

Um, where are the caustics? And the radiosity is hardly notable. The modeling and materials work, however, are very nice. Those splines for the inlay! Very cool, my man. Still, for such a shot as this, enhance your lighting with the old "key, highlight, fill" setup and cut your render time to forty seconds by disabling caustics and GI.

Very cool, all the materials on that fit together very nicely. But I agree the wood texture could use some work. Love the spline shape kepp it up :]

I would imagine that the caustics are in the swirly pattern. Excellent work though.
