"Fractals? Me? No sir!"
Created in Ultra Fractal.
The "no" sign I serendipitously found in Fractint back in 1993. BIOFractals...more fun than any computer game.
I first discovered fractals in 1989 and found Fractint in 1990. Oh, the pain of watching the basic mandelbrot set draw itself on a 1MHz PC, and in only 16 colors. Trying to cajole a boss into getting me a floating-point processor. Not a chance.
In 2001 I discovered Ultra Fractal -- Fractint to the power of Photoshop. Amazing. Mesmerizing. As full of surprises and twists as falling down a spiral staircase. The joys of layering. And, still, the pain of generating, say, fBm texture on even a 1.7GHz PC.
I started out as a so-called traditional artist and still like to put pen and pigment to paper. Favorite medium: watercolors. Some of the most appealing fractals to me are the ones that have the texture and "happy accident" look of watercolors.

I really like this series with the overlays of textures and impressionistic approach! It's good to see an artist using fractals as elements in a larger context. And I am also glad to hear you are recovering from surgery! Good to have you around!
