OK, I'm not a Sci-Fi buff, but the ship doing the shooting - is that the Excalibur? Anyways, I 'm not so keen on the green (?) of the laser, but I like the image - nice energy. good 1. PS, sorry to hear about the notebook. Sad indeed.

The Excalibur and Star Fury are models I created based upon other I found on the web, as I wanted to have models that would stand up to tight close up shots and the models out there were not capable of that. B5 and the narn cruiser are models found out on the web. But with all new uv MAPS and procedurals as I have found to be seriously lacking in quality and detail. The detail that is evident is a direct result of my new difuse, specularity, color and trans maps. Also I did add quite modeled detail to the B5 and existing narn models so they also could work in tight close ups. It took months of work creating the UV maps and required upgrades to the models. Composing and rendering the scene took about two evenings Thank you for the comments

Everything is kinda close together. Generaly ther should be more distance between the objects in space...

Ahh skyfox everything is in perspective to the camera angle. These objects are seperated by quite an bit of space. The B5 station model being by far the largest in the scene is back off in the distance the other ships are have a great deal of seperation. The closest to the camera is the starfury which is a speck compared to the other objects in the scene. You could not replicate this battle scene shot without forced perspective. You would loose all of the drama and intensity of the scene and end up with a bunch of tiny non distinct objects hovering around.
