Description

This a heavier version of my fictional Kamov Gunship. I have designated the heavier version K-9000, because all Kamov Helicopters seem to have a name beginning with a "K". This is something like a Hind-like version of my previous design: Bigger, heavier, more guns, more missiles,... A flying main battle tank, just like the old Hind, but with a modern and futuristic touch. The current armament is as follows: 1 14,5mm KPG Izhmash autocannon under the chin 2 40mm RPG-207 Izhmash grenade-machineguns under the main hull 8 7,62mm machineguns, 2 in each side turret on each side 8 RPG-105 "Bearhug" anti-tank missiles under the main wings 8 RPG-303 "Buran" unguided missile pods under the main and front wings Forward and backside sensor array, each with dual cameras (normal light and infrared) and tripple lights. Further details, landing gear and subsystems planned. The cockpit is until now not detailed. I will do that later to make some close-ups of the pilots. All textures until now are simply SLA. I will add txture details later, like signs, markings and insignia.

Cool ship. It looks a lot like the ship from Half-Life 2.

Apache cross Hind with a touch of B-52 with the side guns lol. Half the guns on this would have to be computer driven as no normal human could control all of them at once. Take it you have gone with the Russian idea and kept the guns and nav coms in the most armoured part of the ship. Well done on this fine beast.

The missiles and front gun are operated by the gunner in the back side of the cockpit. The pilot sits up front because other than with past time helicopters, the targeting process is completely HUD assisted. The automatic grenade launchers are normally operated by a second gunner in the passenger compartment and the side turrets are manually fired from within that compartment, too. The new version I am working on has slightly larger dimensions and different armament. I added two coaxial fixed machine cannons in the lower cockpit hull and reorganised the missiles. The air refueling tube on the front section has become a bit larger and I added some details like climbing holes on the cockpit and a double hatch on the rear section. I will post it once the animation test Im doing is through.

Indeed, most impressive, young skywalker. It's big and mean but looks elegantly nonetheless. Excellent work!

Wow. This is a lot of work. You're so good at what you do. I'm sure you're sick of working on it, but I could imagine even more details making it look like something from a movie.

I am still working on it. I will post an updated version within the next 24 hours or so. I have updated the avionic characteristics a bit, modified the armament and worked on the landing gear. It is by now more than one million points big. I think I should start with some mesh optimisation.

Well, everything comes down sometimes. What makes the difference is how expensive it sells its hide and how close you got to get. In Irak, an Apache helicopter was shot down by a 65 years old man with a german WWII Mauser K98k 8mm bolt action rifle. One shot into the cockpit did the job, wounded the pilot and shattered lots of computer hardware.

yup,,,your right mr void...but im sure the chainguns i see in the lower part of the hurricane would take care of most rockets or missiles..and thats a plus in my book. very good defence you put on this craft. keep up the good work!
