Description
Unknown Object #1 - The Five Sisters
On a small water planet surrounding the Mizar Binary Star (named Mizar 3), a scouting expedition discovered five large spheres, each surrounded by four identical, yet smaller, spheres, of unknown origin. Each of the large spheres is exactly fourteen kilometers in diameter, and made of a substance that, as of yet, is still to be determined. These spheres (named Shirley, Lucy, Katherine, Marlene, and Bette by the scout who discovered them), laid out in a somewhat-haphazard formation, are the only non-natural objects on Mizar 3; in fact, they're the only objects whatsoever on the waterlogged planet. Deep scans provide no insight into their physical make-up; they emit no obvious energy or radiation, and attempts to communicate with them have, so far, met without success.
Curiously, at seemingly random intervals, one of the sisters - again, at random, though Lucy is the most frequent - will rise up in the sky and rotate, only to fall gently back down to her post.
The Five Sisters are a Galactic Landmark as of The Decree of 2816, and are constantly monitored.

An idea for a series of pictures that I've had - a series of unknown objects across the Galaxy - but kept putting off because I didn't know if I could pull it off. By posting one picture, I'm sort of forced to keep going now. :)
NB: The Mizar Binary Star is an actual binary star system - I didn't make that part up!
Bryce and Photoshop. Comments are welcome. Thanks for viewing!
