Description
I found the actual RGB values for gold on Google, and used them here. I also put on a self illumination map to brighten up the text. The photon energy has also been decreased to dim the surface caustics. Please comment on changes.

well well I see u got it right... not try puting it in a scene of some sort.... then it would eb cool...

Hmmm, yes; I have an idea for a scene.

I like the subject, altough there are some details that could be better worked. The shape of the ring it's a little strange to me, maybe 'cause the flat surface on the outside. I think it should be more rounded like the ring on the movie (didn't you use reference images? I think it would help the modeling). Another thing that feels unpleasant to me is the color of the gold (altough it has the correct RGB values). It looks very pale. Sometimes in CG the phisically correct is not the better visually. Sometimes we have to twinkle the reallity to get a better look. What renderer are you using?
WayneZac
Yeah, I didn't realize how the ring is supposed to look until I watched the FOTR after I completed this project. But I'm done with this thing. Rendered in Mental Ray 2.

I must agree with romis, the shape of the ring is not by far the ideal one. But the texture is magnificent. I think you should use a D shape as the section through the ring making it look more roundish on the outside. But all in all it look great

Ahhh... now that's good advice, I'll do that.
