Description
I decided to continue this story because I wanted to try some features of Shag:Fur plug-in. The scene has 870.000 faces + 9.600.000 for fur of this stupid animal. My PC almost choked. Rendering took 9 hours. After that some Photoshop post applied.

I'm with duesentrieb. It was worth the wait. The fur looks great! Red fabric, too. I also like the lighting and the sheen on her skin.

Great pic. The fur turned out nicely.

Awesome work. Only crit', left hand & the pole. Her hand is not quite "on" with the pole.. but.. this is still VERY Awesome! Glad your system didn't choke.. will worth the wait/effort.

I dont know if it would help but couldn't you render sections of the picture and combine them in photoshop? That way you dont have to wait 9 hrs strict render time, you could split it into something like 2 hr sections. (Leaving shadows on of course, but making objecs not renderable- im not really qualified to rank the picture because i am still an amature, but compared to me it is an 11

Thank all of you for the comments. I tried to render this scene in two or more "simple" renderings. Unfortunately the effect of render of "splitting" scene (with hidden objects) was not good. Beside that render of the parts would take the same time. The most "time-eating" thing was 5 volume lights. Without them it took only 10-15 minutes. So I started render and gone to sleep :)
george
did you checked bunch of volumes from cebas.can't promise its faster but faster as max volumes. to split the scene isn't verry nice..it takes almost the same time you are right..the only thing what could be a little bit better is the glossy of the female skin..i love this picture..great done

wiked!!! you rock!!!

The fur is cool and the red fabric is cool. However, the floor is way too flat. There should be some variance to the ground, such as places where there are depressions, or maybe some rocks and pebbles. The yak is kicking up some dust, which is cool, but I think there should be even more dust to give the scene more movement and action. Also, the model, although posed well, looks static and plastic. One last gripe... the lens flares just don't belong. Otherwise, an impressive piece.
crommcruac
Oh, thank you for your comments malfunkshun. But if you have so much to tell, you must be very good in Max. So why didn't you post ANYTHING to gallery? Let us enjoy your incredible works. Don't be so shy Ash.

The ground is too flat, the model has a bit of a "plastic" look to it. The fur is cool though.

:( ) (dropping jaw) 3ds max?! I think that figures are from poser, right? But how you do place that tattoo textures on them in max... %O i still wonder....
