I'm just a German hobby artist, hoping to be good enough someday to work on a professional level. :)BIOOne day I saw this computer magazine in a shop, and it was about computer graphics. It had a CD with some cheap freeware 3D software and some tutorials inside. Since I liked movies with cool special effects, I thought I could look into it. That's how it started.
The first program I worked with was called POV-Ray. A freeware 3D Renderer that worked with text based commands, rather than a graphical user interface. Luckily, the CD contained some graphical programs that could save in POV-Ray's file format, and so I made the famous "chrome sphere on checkerboard suface" picture every 3D Newby does. XD
Since then I worked a lot on my skills, and started using different software. While POV-Ray has a nice renderer, I never could get used to the fact that I had to program my scenes. I'm working now with 3D Studio.

m'kay... You got my attention!! :) (and I mean that in a totally good way!!
Wow what a great render. This is truly a jewel. I love the way you worked with the lighting setup for this scene. The difference and conrtrast in colors is striking. The only unnatural thing seems to be the missing of some cloth or something that stands out when it comes to color, perhaps some laundry hanging out a window? Or some curtains that get caught by the wind? Besides my usual nitpicking. I absolutely adore this render. Excellent work. I'm using that Vote button, thank you. :)

Awesome work , it looks so realistic , very well done:-)
PapaGuru
Very nice indeed, though I would prefer softer light! But maybe that's not your cup of soup.

Wonderful artwork ! amazing composition ! Scene very realist ! Congratulations !

Wow, I just love this render! The only thing gives it away as, as far as I am concerned, are the hard shadows. But I actually like that, because it adds a slightly surreal touch.

i don't know anything about this program, but it's a really cool image. excellent work.

this is really great , i like the lighting!

This is just stunning. The lighting is perfect, just what you would see in early afternoon in southern Italy. Looks like riposo (Italian siesta) just started. Love the touches of the fruit, the grate on window at right. Textures are beautiful. Bravo!
taranvainas
Excellent work. Beautiful lighting.

only one word: WOW!!!!!

Fairly pleased? LoL...It's excellent!

Really nice work. I agree with odf about the shadows, they're a bit too hard. And I think the tall vase, on the left, looks a bit out of place. Besides that, it's wonderful.

Nice little Italian walkway. The textures worked like charm. Nice twisting path and perspective. Would love to see some pedestrians in your future posting....

SO FAR THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ARCHITECTURAL AND REALISTIC MODELLING PIC I HAVE EVER SEEN ON RENDEROSITY, THE MAIN DIFFERENCE WITH OTHER ARCHITECTURAL IMAGES POSTED IN THIS COMMUNITY BEING THE FACT THAT YOUR WORK SHOWS THAT YOU HAVE SPENT THE NECESSARY AMOUNT OF TIME TO MAKE THIS IMAGE NEAR PERFECTION; THE LIGHTING AND SHADOWING LOOK AWESOME WHILE THE TEXTURING IS MASTERFULLY DONE !
FreeBass
Awesome!

When a troll complains that much, it's got to be good! Excellent modeling and depth. Very well done.

I'm sorry... I just can't get over the sheer beauty of DeathGoth's post. All those ellipses and 'u's. Trolling is an artform in itself.

This is awesome. I love your detail on the textures and the mood that I get it is really great image.

not horrible, but I agree with Death, the lighting isnt that great, it could definantly use an over-haul. Looks like you just threw an omni or a spot in the sky and called it sun, the tiledness isnt too noticable but its there, and the "new" style brick on the bridge does NOT belong, that looks horrid. Keep at it though, dont get discouraged.

Wow Amazing!! This is as real as it gets!!! Beautiful lighting, textures everything. Two people here obviously are very inexperienced and have a lot to learn about 3D. An Excellent from me and a Vote!!!

You should enter this in comps and on award giving sites Kittomer. This is definately an award winner!

It is a beutiful image...The shadows could be lighterbut....I have taken actual photos where the shdows were pretty harsh O.o The bricks are a lil odd but not extrmemly. It is still A very excellent image and I would still use it in a backdrop :) KUDOS on a beautiful image and Keep em coming cause this is terrific :)

Geeze, put your guns away, people. First of all, thanks for all the nice words, wouldn't have thought this would be so popular. And thanks for the critique, since I certainly appreciate that, too. Yes, there are some tiling problems, and yes, the light isn't 100% a-ok, but if it were, I would be working for ILM or somesuch, not be here and try to improve. About the new-style bricks, they are valid in my opinion, since many old buildings around good old europe here are often sloppily fixed or extended in countries that are less rich than the USA, and I've seen that many times around. There is nothing reflective in the scene except the metal bars, too. Why don't we just enjoy each others work, instead of bashing it on each others head, hm? ;)
