A test with snowtextures.
I am not so lucky about the snow on the trees.

Nicely done that fox is excellent. Is he an alpah plane? I have yet to master a snow scene however I really like the feel of this one.

The snow on the ground and low vegetationis very good; as you say the artefacting on the trees is less satisfactory. I suspect it's just another example of the occasionally artefacting of textures one gets on Vue trees anyway, the snow just making it more obvious than usual. It's a hard effect to get right; I usually resort to post-processing with PSP for that. The rest of the image is so nice I think you should touch those bits up.

Beautiful! I think the snow on the trees is not snow, but ice. Remember that the tree color is dark, hence it is warmer melting the snow which turns to ice as it gets colder. Excellent work Dotthy.

Stunning image! Love the snow around the bottoms of the trees. That gives such a realistic touch. On the trees is difficult. Have you tried sliding your amount of snow texture right or left to change effects individually on each tree? If so than I guess the postwork option is the best one. Really nice image!

Good to see something cool in these days. I don't like snow on trees either, it can fall down when you pass by :-))) Here, two things. One thing is, that all trees does have the same type and amount of snow on them. That makes it a little unreal. Second, as flycatcher said, try other textures for the trees that are not as tiled as this ones. But again, nice image - an excellent from me.

Nice one, Dotthy; I agree about the artifacts on the trees...that's a hazard I've run into as well. Nice job on the snow.

I think the snow texture is fabulous. I'm not brave enough to tackle snow scenes yet. ;)

I love seeing this nice cool scene in the middle of the summer! I didn't even notice the snow on the trees at first, I just couldn't get beyond the beautiful fox hiding in the grasses!
