Description

Yes, it's another boring still life! Compote modeled in RDS. About my 40th try at texturing grapes ....

Rofl, this should have gone under bryce and comedy. Sorry, didn't mean any offense by that but, "still life" with fruit + hand dril. =)) I love it.. Awesome render, some things to improve on, the books/wooden box need bump.Or something. The wooden box is too "crisp" and flat. Grapes look good, one thing that I have found to work, you take them and select every grape, ungroup them, duplicate in the same place, resize the new grapes so that they are slightly larger than the originals (only very very slight) then give these a glass material with grean streaks and some bump. It looks perfect trust me. Then finally, make the inside grapes have a bump as well and be a tad translucent. The crackers seem a bit large, the texture is apparently stretched too much. The coin is too flat, it has no dimension. I love the drill. Nice picture that could use a tiny bit of work. (not being mean, just contructive remember that)

Ornlu - thanks for the critique --- books do have a bit of a bump (guess I turned it down too much!). Grapes are doubled with a more transparent layer on the outside ... just have to play with them more. Crackers are actually shortbread cookies & seemed okay to me. Coin is a symmetrical lattice that once again I made a bit too flat ... Think I've done 20 versions of this picture so far, tweaking here & there. Been staring at it too long ......

Yeah,....and the frog looks like he's pissed at be called "still". Of course,...... I just noticed the title of the book he's sitting on. Froggy's going to be a sorry piece of leather pretty soon. Nice work.

There may be room for improvement, as other pointed out, but, hey, I love it. Very original work, even "funny". An excellent modern interpretation of the old still life theme.

Wonderful scene. Alot of work went into this and it shows. I love the stuffed frog sitting on the book. lol You may also want to put a tad bit of variation in a few of the grapes' appearance. That may help with the realism. The book textures look fine to me. The wooden box is at an angle where none of its shadows are visible, which can give it a little of an awkward 2d'ishness. Really great work. Thanks for posting.

Wow, it's a great piece of work! The textures are awesome, the lighting is perfect... A couple little doo-dads here and there like Ornlu said, but were I you just be satisfied with "Masterpiece" status and make us something new to gawk at! (Oh yeah, great frog!)

The great work shows off bigtime. Grapes are really a challenge (so far, I've failed to win it, alas). Thumbs way up.
