Description
You know, I tried to get as close as possible to the first ever Bald Eagle I have seen perched in nature (I have seen them flying) but he took off after only ONE shot! There were mixed feelings. Disappointment combined with exhileration. If only I could have gotten a little closer. At least I know one of his hang-outs now.
There is an image in my Gallery called "Resolute" that is of the very same tree shown here.

Beautiful subject. Nice capture of the subject. Wonderful.

I dont think I've ever seen one in person...but I'm not sure on that, I may have seen one from a distance flying. That's so cool that you captured one though. After work there was a pidgeon sitting on a fence, and it had been there for 4 hours straight...and it refuse to fly away, and guess what? Yep, no camera. =D

When I was a kid , after Swan that was my favourite bird.. and still... you caught a perfect royal pose.. and I thank you for a sight that I wish I could spot in real myself too, one day :) Till then.. your shot will be a great substitute for my love :)

i remember this tree- this is fabulous! the eagle shot we all strive to capture someday- you should be very proud of this, i wouldn't worry about not being able to get closer (typical photographer's anguish)- i luv the scenery, lighting & tree in this- CONGRATS! :D

I dont think you have to be closer, but maby another angle, but thats just me. If you only had one shot at this, then you should be very satisfied insted, you have capture the core of eagles, the regal and greatnes.. and that in its true element

Matt please dont fret!! He looks magnifcent here as an overlord of his domain.. That tree is the perfect place for this majestic bird of prey..A closer perspective would lose much of the grandier you have captured...

Ya did good... no, ya did great! I love this shot. The background is a perfect complement to the tree and eagle. Kudos. :)

What an astonishingly beautiful photo!! I do remember the tree as it's one of my favs. To have captured this bird on film is exhilerating to say the least, I'd be dancing in the streets!! Exemplary job and thanks for sharing! :)

I just posted an eagle pic you might like a couple of days ago. If you ever get a chance to get over to Vancouver Island in late October or early November, you'll find all the eagles you ever wanted. The weekend I spent on Quadra, at one point there were 15 in a tree across the creek, but too far for my camera. We/ve seen as many as 150 at a time, in exceptional years.
