Description

Another installment of my "Tutorial 'Misinterpretation'" series. One of Mars' two moons, Phobos. The second 3DS Max tutorial is to make Mars and his moons. They were supposed to be just spheres with low quality textures. That was just too lame. So I started hunting the 'net for models, textures and info. There's no light source (sun), and it appears that later tutorials use the Mars and moons scene, so we will be back here again. Thanks for lookin'! Edit: Re-rendered the scene using the 5K color and bump maps for Mars. Now the trench in the image looks more pronounced and not so fuzzy. Just about freezes my computer while 3DS Max loads the material, being so big. Heh. Excellent!! Mars and her moons are always dear to my heart. This is so well done! Love the 3-D effect of the moon.

Mars also has a special place in my heart. It's wonderful to see you learning how to use 3D max. I know how you are about details and realism and this artwork shows it. Excellent work!
