Description

Everything modeled and rendered in C2. There is very little postwork in this image,I tried to get the lighting I wanted from Carrara's GI renderer. The plants, trees and flowers are either particle emitters or Transparency maps.Comments and Criticisms welcome as I am trying to get better at lighting a scene. Regards Mike

Good work, the lighting seems ok. Textures are a little too flat, perhaps you should use bump maps and real geometry in some places. Plants look fantastic, great work. Lots of details, they enhance the image so much. I'll give you an 'excellent' rank..

Faultless, perhaps the wooden beams & textures are looking a bit too clean cut to look real, but the lighting is perfect, and the tree & plant shadows really enhance the image. Superb!

That is just...wow. I am assuming the door and windows are textures...but its hard to find the line between real and not here. Just great work, definitely something for me to strive for. Love the plants too!

Thanks for the comments.mf193 The door is part texture and part modelled. The window is a texture map with transparency which allows you to see inside were I have another texture map of a scene I modelled earlier. Regards

I don't use Carrara, but I have to say from browsing the "best rankings" category in the Carrara Community galleries, this is probably the single most convincing render I've seen done with the application so far. Nice work on the realism of your lighting and shaders. The only crit I have is that the wood texture on the awning rafters could use a little work. Can't quite put my finger on it. Also, the bricks could use a bit more depth... perhaps use displacement instead of bump map (if Carrara has displacement), or crank up the bump a tad bit more. With some minor shader tweaking, you'd have a totally convincing piece here.

Absolutely brilliant work. I wouldn't dare criticise it, I will leave that to more experienced 3d artists but i certainly aspire to doing work of this fantastic quality.
