Description

A woman, bent with age, came out of the dark green shadows. She was covered from head to toe in a black veil, but for some reason, I wasnt afraid of her. She called herself Tapada, the veiled one. She never touched white flesh, only animals. She told me I had the power to heal. That I must use my gift to help those who need it most. She led me through the vines and giant leaves, showing me healing plants and flowers, telling me what each did. She said we are all connected through the cord of the branch, the stem, and the vine. That all the secrets are inside the forest. That I must respect the power of nature, for as many plants that could cure, as many could also kill. When we parted, she told me something that has haunted me until now." Daman drew Bianca into his arms. "One day, Tapada said, you will meet a woman who comes to you as broken and helpless as the tiny parrot you found. Follow your destiny, that comes from the sea, and you will find the greatest happiness a man can know." He cupped her cheeks and kissed her tenderly. "You are my destiny, Bianca. When I saw you laying in the surf, with your black hair covering the bloody wounds on your back, I saw that tiny parrot in the forest. And deep inside I knew we were meant to be together. The way you healed, the way your body responded to my touch, the way we kissed and made love before ever speaking." oooh lovely :) "She led me through the vines and giant leaves" is my favorite... Wonderful visual going on there. Oddly enough, this actually reminds me of my grandmother on my father's side. She was a Medicine Woman. I had the chance to spend a summer with her on the Res when I was 13. She was small, and bent... and had a fondness for smacking the back of my head when I got a bit too cheeky. But she made a point to drill into my mind the concept that "All things are one on the Web". I loved her dearly, and your excerpt in my opinion makes a powerful satement about the power held within a healing hand.
