Description

...nothing much really, just started out as a test of my new "homemade" fir tree (available in the freestuf as soon as it is approved by Renderosity). -------------- Originally I would have used some of the brilliant Xfrog spruces and fir-trees, but they are very polygon heavy, and my computer started to drag, when I had duplicated about 50 Xfrog spruces. So I decided to build a "lightweight" tall fir tree, and I could easily handle 2000 trees with this design - that was what I was after: Some fir trees suitable for large forests. -------------- The actual image developed into some kind of light/atmosphere study as well, and due to the many trees (most of them not visible) etc. it endend up as a very heavy render: 10 hours 41 min.! Not sure it was worth it, but the trees work well at least ;o) Sunlight + one volumetric spotlight, 27 mio polygons (ridiculous, should have deleted some objects). Color correction and soft filter done in Photoshop. -------------- Thanks for viewing - comments always appreciated.

Great trees - thanks you for making them available as freebies. The scene captures the darkness from the closee canopy well, and has the right ground cover: sedges and bracken are pretty much all that seem to flourish under these conditions.

Your combination of Photoshop and Vue is superior work. I like how you've added dust to volumetric light. :)

Beautiful coloring and lighting; you've really got a touch for that! Great job on the fir trees. My computer would explode with that many polys in a scene, lol!
