That's looking pretty cool. I suggest you separate the surfaces of the timber rails into horizontal grain direction and vertical grain direction to make it easier when it comes to surfacing. I don't think that you need to do all the "nail holes", but I agree that a bit of weathering from use would make this a lot more realistic. :o)
