The flight had been marvelous, and he was ecstatic to be back in the mountains. He had been too long in the capitol, a port city sweating with the summer doldrums. The stench of the sea and the huddled masses of humanity that made the city of Carellon their home were sometimes too much for the young Prince of Dragomonte.

He had been born high in the Western Barriers, in a magnificent castle overlooking the Ducal capitol of Dragaard below. But his eyes had always been drawn skyward. For Dragaard had been for centuries the place where man and dragon had met as one. Under Duke and Duchess Draggenbrand, it had become even more so. In the last days before the defeat of the Wolf Hordes and the fall of Lupingaard, Duchess Amanda had brought together the Dragon Wings under Colonel Darius Falcone, and to them she had added the free members of the Blue Clan under Queen Aurora.
