Description
One of the coolest places from my recent travels, this is "Roche Rock", a bizarre
knarly outcrop of twisted rock in the middle of Bodmin Moor, Cornwall, UK.
It has an ancient ruin of a hermitage built high up into the rocks and this was
famously used as a spooky set peice for "The Omen III - Final Conflict" and it's
easy to see why.
The photo was taken in bright sunshine (see fig 1) and didnt really capture the
evil feel of the place so I decided to have a crack at turning it into a creepy
night time version, here's how I did it :-
Fig 1 - Initial daylight photo, slight saturation increase in Paintshop Pro (PSP)
Fig 2 - Sky removed using "magic wand" tool with high tolerance in PSP
Fig 3 - Blue tint to rocks added with Ulead Photo-Impact's "style" function
Fig 4 - Contrast increased dramatically for darker moonlight shadow
Fig 5 - Starfield and nebula added with Diard software's "Universe",
Fig 6 - Comets and mist added with Ulead Photo-Impact's particle effects
Fig 7 - Extra attention drawn to tower with Ulead Photo-Impact's lighting effects
Fig 8 - Text and border added with PSP
Hope that was useful, and you enjoyed the pic, thanks for viewing, comments welcomed.
By the way, I picked up Ulead Photo-Impact free on a magazine coverdisk, keep your eyes
open for it because it's a great piece of software.
