Description

A zoom into a previous post, this time created with more time and stuff. The JPG conversion killed the red in the thin frame line and the subscript - made a brown from it. In the image itself the red is nearly as it was in the BMP base image. Is there any chance to keep red colours untouched in a JPG???

dear man, I dunno about what you ask but the brown to me is perfect here. It makes the strong structure be even more elegant. Just my two cents :)

I like it! The rich red deep in the spirals is lovely! As for jpegs, you could try increasing the Quality factor (i.e. decrease the compression rate). I use the "Save For Web" option in Photoshop, which lets me easily preview the results of different levels of compression, but there are lots of optimising tools available. I've found that the colour fidelity (as a function of compression rate) doesn't always progress smoothly - there are often critical points where the colours drop off with just a small change. With an optimising tool, it is quite easy to find these without having to end up with an unnecessarily large file.

Reds are always the most difficult to compress. I usually use a deeper red than I want to get the result that I want, if you know what I mean :) An excellent image, I don't know where 'ugly' comes into it!

Ugly? Well, maybe we need more of it, as I think this is beautiful.

Still not ugly, so you'll have to try harder I guess. I like the muted colors, curved forms, and subtle elephant skin texture underneath.

This image is a part and re-work of "A Little Bit of Ugliness" that was posted before. Hence the new title :-)

I love the organic feel to this and the colors look wonderful.

The colors, curves and clarity are wonderful, and I like the subtle texture. If you make your red more of an orange-red, it will translate better in jpeg format.

"The Art of Ugliness"? I love it! I love the subtle textures. It looks like it was painted on watercolor paper.

Can't see any ugliness here. Really a beautiful piece of art, Andreas!
