Description
There were tons of seagulls in this portion of the lake. This is a lake hundreds of miles from the ocean and roughly 8000 feet elevation in the mountains. Odd place to see so many seagulls. They were feeding on the alkali flies which you can see swarming all over this picture.
I didn't quite achieve the depth of field I intended, but I still like the shot.

Those flies must taste good to the gulls for them to travel so far! You've done an excellent job in capturing the beauty and atmosphere of this strange place:)

So amazing, thank you.

So far the most beautiful of the series... at least in my eyes :)

Now your flies got my interest! Have you got a macro of them, how big are they.

Amazing!

I unfortunately didn't get a macro of them, PapaGuru. They were smaller than an average house fly. I really didn't pay much attention to them because as I mentioned earlier they weren't a nuisance... they have no interest in people--they eat something in the lake. They scattered and moved away whenever I got close. The tufas and larger objects in the lake mostly drew my attention. But in looking at my photos now, those flies were everywhere!

What a strange, almost alien landscape...can't think of a better person to capture it on film. Great job.
